Sport

Sport is an integral part of the curriculum at Holy Name and timetabled once a week for each class. We aim to introduce new skills and a wide range of sports to improve fitness and co-ordination. Whilst we encourage a sporting attitude, we also focus on life skills – enjoyment, self esteem, resilience, team work and healthy living.

As well as their weekly PE lessons, students also have the opportunity to focus on:

Swimming – Years Prep – 2

Gymnastics – Years 3 – 4

Interschool Sports – Years 5 – 6

Football clinics are also scheduled throughout the year from both the Carlton and Collingwood Football Clubs as part of their school education football clinics, as well as specialist tennis tuition through Future Demand Tennis and ANZ Hot Shots program. There are no costs to families for these programs.

Senior students also have the opportunity to represent Holy Name in inter school sport, Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals.

Holy Name also supports the annual ‘Walk to School Day’ which supports physical activity.
